The FHS Jazz Ensemble will either meet in class, or sometimes after school, depending on the semester. The Jazz band has performed in Walt Disney World festivals, the 'Ol Williamsburg Jazz Fest, the Dillsboro Christmas Festival, WCU Jazz Festival, UNCA Jazz Festival, and in local events in and around the Franklin area. The jazz ensemble students play anything from contemporary pop charts, to blues and swing, to samba and hip-hop genres. Students are exposed to a vast majority of musical examples. All students interested in jazz will be required to work on and learn all the basic jazz blues
scales, and will be asked in numerous occasions to solo in our group. The more you work and practice "how" to solo, the better you will get. The better you get, the easier it is. The easier it is, the more you enjoy it... and the more you enjoy it, the more you will want to do it again...and again...and again..........
